WASHINGTON — If you venture past McPherson Square in Northwest D.C. this weekend, you may notice some changes — like older model cars and other things that may remind of you an ’80s flick.
Word on the street is that the Wonder Woman sequel — set in 1984 — is being shot in the District and will resume filming this weekend nearby the White House. Gatekeepers stationed around the park said they’re not authorized to confirm if it is Wonder Woman, though.
Confirmation or not, this could explain the panoply of throwback cars and trucks, the phone booth sitting near the park, huge lights on nearby sidewalks, a surplus of people with trademark ’80s teased hair and the occasional jacket with ultra-broad shoulder pads.
In addition to automotive and fashion alterations, there are traffic changes in that area. According to a D.C. Police traffic advisory, several streets around McPherson Square will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday.
