Woman badly injured in fire she’s accused of setting at NW DC apartment building

WASHINGTON — A woman is in critical condition after D.C. police said she set several fires in her apartment complex in Northwest D.C.

Doug Buchanan, spokesman for DC Fire and EMS, said firefighters arrived to the 800 block of R Street NW at around 9 p.m. Thursday night and found smoke coming from a ground-level apartment.

Inside that apartment, Buchanan said a woman was found unconscious and was taken to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

According to a D.C. police report the woman was suffering from burns and smoke inhalation when she was transported to the hospital.

Investigators found three separate fires which they allege were all set by the woman.

Twelve families are not allowed back into their apartments after the fire.

Below is the area where the fires were set.
