WASHINGTON — A man is in the hospital with critical injuries Thursday morning following a house fire in Northeast D.C.

DC Fire and EMS responded to the blaze at the two-story row house on Rosedale Street, near Benning Road and across the street from Miner Elementary School, around 6 a.m.

The injured man was found outside behind the home.

The fire originated on the first floor and was quickly extinguished.

Investigators said the accidental fire was caused by an electrical issue. A damaged smoke detector on the first floor was sent to a lab to determine if it was working and investigators said they did not find a smoke detector on the second floor.
