1 man dead, 1 woman injured after shooting in SE DC

WASHINGTON — A man is dead and a woman is injured after a shooting in Southeast D.C. Saturday night, police say.

The man has been identified as Anthony Smith, 33, of Southeast D.C.

Police are on the lookout for the suspect, who they describe as a roughly 6-foot-2 black male with curly hair. He was wearing a gray shirt and bluejeans.

The shooting occurred a little after 10 p.m. near Stanton Elementary School at the 2300 block of Raynolds Place. When police arrived on scene, they found Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

They found the woman at 2700 block of Bruce Place, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Both victims were taken the hospital, but Smith died after all lifesaving efforts failed. The woman is getting treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

D.C. police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible.
