Southeast DC shooting victim dies

WASHINGTON — A man shot in Southeast D.C. earlier this month died from his injuries Friday, police said. And he has been identified as 25-year-old Dalane Yates of Northeast.

Yates was shot on the evening of Feb. 2 in the 4700 block of Alabama Avenue SE.

D.C. police responded to reports of a shooting around 7:35 p.m. Once on the scene, they discovered Yates inside a home where he had sustained an apparent gunshot wound.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded and transported him to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, Yates died from those injuries.

The investigation continues.

A reward of up to $25,000 is on offer for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
