DC man charged with murder in fatal shooting of woman found in burning car

WASHINGTON — D.C. police have arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman found in a burning car in December 2017.

Kerrice Lewis, 23, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was found Dec. 28 in a car that was on fire on Adrian Street in Southeast D.C.

Once the fire was extinguished, police discovered Lewis inside the vehicle unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds.

When EMS arrived, she was pronounced dead.

Ashton Briscoe, 23, of Northeast D.C., was arrested Saturday and charged with first degree murder while armed.
