Man pulled from under Metro train at Benning Road station

WASHINGTON — A man is in the hospital after falling onto the tracks at the Benning Road Metro station Wednesday night.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after a report of a person hit by a train. D.C. Fire and EMS said they pulled the man from under the train.

He was conscious and alert when transported to the hospital. His injuries are described as “relatively minor” and not life-threatening.

A Metro spokesperson said it appears his fall may have been the result of intoxication.

It’s still not clear if his injuries were caused by a train strike or his fall.

Earlier, Blue Line trains were single-tracking between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road.
