Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade route and closures

WASHINGTON — Several streets will be closing for the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade, which will kick off at noon on Monday, Jan. 15.

The parade starts at MLK Avenue and Good Hope Rd. SE, near the Anacostia Park entrance and continue along MLK Avenue to the Barry Farm Recreation & Aquatics Center at 1230 Sumner Rd. SE.

D.C. police said the following streets will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. along the parade route. 

  • Good Hope Road SE between Anacostia Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE between Good Hope Road and Malcolm X Avenue SE to include cross streets
  • Sumner Road SE between Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Firth Sterling Avenue SE

A peace walk will be held one hour before the parade and will end right when the parade begins.
