WASHINGTON — A child was struck by a minivan Tuesday morning near a charter school in the District’s Brookland neighborhood.
The collision happened just after 8 a.m., near the intersection of 20th Street and Quincy Street, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
Authorities say they had to remove the child out from under the minivan, however the child was not trapped.
The child was taken to a hospital. Fire officials did not provide the child’s age nor say whether it was a boy or girl who was hurt. The child was in “possibly serious” condition but was expected to survive, fire officials said.
The child was struck about a block from Perry Street Prep, a public charter school.
