Holy rollers: Burglars use church van to steal from DC store

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are looking for three people who pulled up in front of a store in a church van and stole merchandise.

It happened on Dec. 5 at around 5 a.m. The suspects stepped out of a van that had a sign for Young’s Memorial Church of Christ Holiness. They parked the vehicle in front of a store at CityCenterDC on H Street Northwest.

Surveillance video shows the men looking through the glass door. One man appears to throw an object at a glass window. The next frame shows them carrying handfuls of merchandise and putting them in the van before driving away.

Young’s Memorial Church of Christ Holiness is located on Alabama Avenue Southeast.

NBC Washington reported that the police later found the van. The church’s assistant pastor Gregory Armstrong told NBC Washington that the van was used to help elderly church members get around, and it has not been available for use because police are still processing evidence.
