Police: Robber with stun gun stole Vuitton purse, $2,000 cash

WASHINGTON — Police in the District are looking a man who allegedly used a stun device on a woman before stealing her expensive purse, containing $2,000 as she walked by herself near the Washington National Cathedral late Friday.

According to D.C. police, the woman said she was walking in the 3500 block of Macomb Street in Northwest at approximately 11:45 p.m., when a man approached her from behind and used a stun gun on her neck.

Police said the suspect demanded the woman’s Louis Vuitton handbag, which she refused to release. The woman reported she was dragged along the ground, before finally letting go of the bag, which contained $2,000 cash, credit cards, the woman’s driver’s license and cellphone.

According to a police report, the woman’s phone was recovered nearby, and processed for evidence.

Police have not said whether they believe the suspect knew the woman was carrying a large amount of cash.

The woman was not seriously injured.

Police believe the suspect and another man may have left the scene in a white sedan.
