D.C. police name suspect in fatal Southeast shooting

WASHINGTON — Metropolitan police have named a suspect in the killing of a D.C. resident on Aug. 1.

Police said on Monday that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Matin Flythe, 21, on charges of murder one while armed.

The charges are tied to the killing of Michael Toland.

Police said Toland was shot at the intersection of 46th Place and G Street Southeast around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later.

Now, detectives are asking for the public’s help finding Flythe, whom police described as “armed and dangerous.” Police have advised the public not to take action but to contact police immediately if Flythe is found.

A reward is being offered for his capture.
