Police search for suspect in Southeast D.C. homicide

WASHINGTON — The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect for a homicide that occurred in July.

The suspect is identified as 26-year-old Derrick Carter, who is wanted in connection to the second degree murder of 31-year-old Melvin Williams that happened on the  2300 block of Ainger Place, Southeast around 5:16 p.m. on July 28, 2015.

Carter is described as being 5-foot 8-inches tall, weighing 125 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

Police are offering a reward of $25,000 to anyone with information leading to an arrest or conviction. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
