Police arrest man for role in D.C. shooting death

WASHINGTON — Police have arrested a man wanted for his role in a homicide in D.C. over the weekend.

On Monday, the Metropolitan Police Department arrested 26-year-old Jamie Patterson — a Northeast D.C. resident — for the shooting death of a man in Northeast Saturday night.

Police say there was a shooting in the 500 block of 58th Street in Northeast at about 9 p.m. Saturday. When police responded, they found a Patterson with a gunshot wound, as well as another man with a gunshot wound in the 300 block of 58th Street in Northeast.

Emergency crews transported both men to area hospitals. The second man, later identified as 20-year-old Devonte Reed, died from his injuries.

Patterson is being charged with murder while armed in the shooting death of Reed.
