Shots fired at D.C. EMS workers

WASHINGTON — Police are on the hunt for a group of four or five men who fired shots at EMS workers in D.C. early Friday morning.

It began just after midnight around 4th Street and Florida Avenue in Northeast, police say, when two workers in a marked ambulance came across two groups of people shooting at each other. One group got into a car to leave the scene when the workers flashed the ambulance’s lights to let the groups know they were there.

At that point, police say, someone in the car fired on the ambulance and took off. The ambulance followed.

When they got to Potomac Avenue, in Southeast, near Pennsylvania Avenue, they abandoned the car and ran off.

No injuries were reported; the investigation is ongoing. If you have any information, the police ask you to call 202-727-9099.
