Driver sought after deadly hit-and-run in D.C.

WASHINGTON – Police are looking for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in Southeast D.C.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. A vehicle described as a tan 1999 Mercedes Benz struck a woman, and fled the scene.

The woman who was struck was taken to a local hospital, where she later died. The victim was identified as 68-year-old Faith Pines of Fort Washington, Maryland.

Police located the suspected vehicle early Wednesday. It was found parked and unoccupied in the 1800 block of Benning Road, Northeast.
