MARC train mechanical issues cause delays

WASHINGTON — Service disruptions on the MARC train are causing delays Monday morning.

The train system announced on Twitter shortly after 5 a.m. on Monday that due to delays on the Brunswick Line, Metro will honor MARC tickets for the morning.

In addition, the MARC 878 with a 6:25 a.m. departure time from Martinsburg was canceled due to mechanical problems. The train was the last one out of Martinsburg, so those at Martinsburg, Harpers Ferry and Dullields were encouraged to go to the Frederick Station or to the Brunswick station.

And the ticket machine at the Savage Station was out of service at 5:06 a.m. Monday morning. The train system announced that technicians were notified and that one-way and round-trip tickets could be purchased on the train without penalty.

The system reminded passengers that only cash may be used as credit cards are not accepted for purchases on the train.
