WASHINGTON — Amtrak service between New York City and Boston has been suspended for the rest of the day Tuesday as the third major winter storm in two weeks bore down on the Northeast.

Two trains from D.C. to New York were also canceled Tuesday morning. They are Train 182(13), which was scheduled to depart Union Station at 9:10 a.m. and Train 184(13), which was scheduled to depart at 12:55 p.m.

The suspended service includes Acela Express and the Northeast Regional service.

Amtrak said service would be restored as conditions improved.
