WASHINGTON — Congratulations: You beat the holiday traffic, scored parking and have arrived at the hallowed doorway of your favorite Trader Joe’s.

Your shopping list is in hand. But as we all know, that Trader Joe’s list gets (ahem) “amended” as you come across some unexpected temptations. These creative eats are not available anywhere else.

Extraordinary Bark     They start with a dark chocolate base, then add caramel popcorn, pretzels, almonds, mini peanut butter cups and Joe-Joe’s cookie pieces, then top it with chocolate drizzle. Irish whiskey Caramels Not to be too melodramatic, but caramel is a life-affirming force. It’s a reason some of us get up in the morning. Joe’s, of course, is at the forefront of caramel-advancing technology. These candies, for instance, infuse the liquid gold with another life-affirming element: single-malt Irish whiskey.
