Man accused of stabbing mother during fight

WASHINGTON – A Calvert County man is accused of stabbing his 58-year-old mother during a fight.

Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police received a call indicating someone had been stabbed during a fight at a home in the 7600 block of Solomons Island Road in Owings, Maryland.

According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy arrived on the scene and found that a woman had been stabbed in the abdomen and arms by her son, Darrell Lee Adams, 38.

The woman was taken to Prince George’s County Hospital with injuries that were serious, but not life-threatening.

Three other family members were there during the altercation and tried to help the woman, deputies said. No one else was hurt, but Adams did have wounds on his hands that were treated.

Adams was charged with four counts each of first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure.
