Calvert County woman who ran officer off road charged with assault

WASHINGTON — A Calvert County woman who authorities say intentionally hit a police cruiser with her pickup truck has been charged with assault.

The crash, which occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Monday in the 3100 block of Bayside Road, led an officer inside the cruiser to fire his gun at the driver, 31-year-old Jamie Stroude.

According to the Calvert County Sherriff’s Office, Stroud hit Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Wilson’s K-9 patrol car with her Toyota Tacoma, spinning the vehicle and forcing it off the road

At that point, Stroud accelerated her truck into the patrol car, pushing it farther.

Wilson then fired several shots through his windshield into the windshield of Stroud’s truck. Stroud left the vehicle to approach Wilson on foot, where he and a witness stopped and detained her.

Police say Stroude was on drugs at the time. She wasn’t hit by the officer’s gunfire.
