6 DC-area hotels named among the best by TripAdvisor

WASHINGTON — TripAdvisor announced the winners of its annual Travelers’ Choice Awards for hotels Tuesday, and six D.C.-area locations are among the honorees.

The travel site singled out hotels in 10 categories, both in the U.S. and around the world. The area’s lucky six placed in the Top Bargain, Top Value for Money and Top Luxury categories.

The award-winners were determined based on reviews collected over the last year from TripAdvisor travelers worldwide.

D.C. area’s TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award winners

7th Top Bargain Hotel in U.S.: Candlewood Suites Hotel Sterling (Sterling, Virginia) Rooms are available for less than $150, said TripAdvisor’s Elizabeth Monahan. “There’s actually been some remodeling so they have new bedding, new carpeting and new kitchen flooring,” she added. 14th Top Luxury Hotel in U.S.: Four Seasons Hotel (D.C.) TripAdvisor guests at this Georgetown location, Monahan said, love the lap pool. 11th Top Luxury Hotel in U.S.: The Hay-Adams (D.C.) Guests particularly like this location’s proximity to the White House, Monahan said.
