Spirit adds flights to Denver, Jamaica from BWI Marshall

WASHINGTON — Spirit Airlines, which moved its D.C.-area operations from Reagan National Airport to BWI Marshall five years ago, continues to add to its roster at the Maryland airport.

The latest additions are daily Spirit nonstops from BWI Marshall to Denver and daily nonstops to Montego Bay, Jamaica. Both flights will be year-round service.

Jamaica is the second international destination for Spirit from BWI, which started service to Cancun earlier this month.

“We welcome these new flights which provide our passengers with more travel options, and we welcome further growth and success here,” said BWI Marshall Airport Executive Director Ricky Smith.

Spirit started BWI service in 2012 with just two destinations. With the latest additions, it now flies to 21 destinations from the airport.

The Jamaica service on Spirit is also the second new international destination from BWI announced this week.

Air Canada said it would offer daily, nonstop service from BWI Marshall to Montreal beginning in May. BWI’s first nonstop service to Montreal.

The Linthicum, Maryland, airport is the D.C. region’s busiest, with a record 25.1 million passengers in 2016. Last year was also the second straight year with more than one million international passengers traveling through the airport.
