Maryland gets 4th Amazon fulfillment center, 1,500 more jobs

WASHINGTON — Amazon will build an 855,000-square-foot fulfillment center at the Tradepoint Atlantic industrial park at Baltimore County’s Sparrows Point.

The new distribution center will create 1,500 Amazon jobs, the company said.

Amazon already has 5,000 full-time employees at three existing fulfillment centers in Baltimore City and Cecil County.

“We’re excited to open a new, state-of-the-art fulfillment center in historic Sparrows Point and to continue innovating in a state committed to providing great opportunities for jobs and customer experience,” said Amazon’s vice president of North America Customer Fulfillment Sanjay Shah.

Amazon is getting a $2 million conditional loan through the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund, as well as a $200,000 conditional loan from Baltimore County.

Amazon will also be eligible for various state and local tax credits.

Tradepoint Atlantic is a new, 3,100 acre industrial park with access to the Port of Baltimore.
