WASHINGTON — US Foods, one of the biggest food service distributors in the country, will expand its Prince William County distribution center and add 100 new jobs.
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office said Virginia competed against five other states for the expansion project and secured it with a $350,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund.
US Foods already employs about 900 people at distribution centers in Manassas and in Salem, Virginia, near Roanoke.
“As a leading food distributor in Virginia, we are excited to be adding to our local workforce,” said Jim Sturgell, area president for Metro DC, US Foods.
“Not only does this expansion allow us to create more jobs, it allows us to strengthen our presence and leadership in this market and continue to provide exceptional service to our growing Virginia customer base.”
The Manassas expansion at US Foods’ distribution center at 11994 Livingston Rd. will include the addition of 220,000 new square feet, nearly doubling the size of the facility to 466,000. The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
Rosemont, Illinois-based US Foods distributes food and food services to about 250,000 restaurants and food service operators. The company has $23 billion in annual revenue.
