WASHINGTON — The D.C. area will get a third Topgolf location, this one in Germantown, Maryland.

The high-tech driving range, bar and restaurant chain says it will begin construction on a 65,000-square-foot location on Century Boulevard at Interstate 270 and Germantown Road next fall, with an expected opening in late 2018.

Topgolf also has locations in Virginia in Ashburn and Alexandria.

“For 11 years, D.C. has been a top market for Topgolf, and as we look to expand in the area, Germantown is a natural fit,” said Devin Charhon, Topgolf’s director of real estate development.

“It’s a fast-growing community that offers easy access to D.C. and is frequently recognized as one of the best places to live and work.”

Topgolf’s Alexandria location, on South Van Dorn Street, opened in 2005 and was the chain’s first U.S. location. The Ashburn Topgolf opened last summer.

The three-level Germantown location will be open year-round and will include 3,000 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays.

When construction begins, the Germantown location will create about 300 construction jobs; when complete, more than 500 full- and part-time jobs.

Topgolf has 30 locations and says nearly half of its guests describe themselves as “nongolfers.”
