WASHINGTON — Netflix has struck a deal with luxury movie theater chain iPic Entertainment to screen its original movies the same day they debut on Netflix at two of its iPic Theater locations.
The initial agreement is for screenings at iPic theaters in New York and Los Angeles. The small chain has just 15 theaters, one of them at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda, and Netflix has the option of expanding its screenings to the other theaters.
The Netflix partnership with iPic was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, and confirmed by WTOP.
The initial agreement includes 10 scheduled Netflix originals.
iPic Theaters opened its Pike & Rose location, with eight screens in late 2014. Like its other theaters, it features a full bar and sit down restaurant and in-theater food delivery to a designated section of seating in each theater.
It serves menus created by James Beard Award-winning chef Sherry Yard. The Pike & Rose iPic location also includes an outdoor terrace for drinks and dining.
