Grant Thornton moving 1,000 local jobs to Rosslyn

WASHINGTON — International consulting firm Grant Thornton LLP will consolidate its operations in McLean and Alexandria to a single, new location in Arlington.

The move will consolidate 994 existing Grant Thornton jobs to 1000 Wilson Blvd. in Rosslyn. The company will eventually occupy four floors and about 76,000 square feet at 1000 Wilson.

The consolidation will start in November.

Grant Thornton also will create another 348 new jobs within five years as part of the move.

The consolidation will not affect Grant Thornton’s operations in the District, at 1250 Connecticut Ave.

“We’ll be combining our area offices to create a more efficient footprint, but also the workplace of the future, a concept developed with input from Grant Thornton employees,” said Atlantic Coast Managing Partner Jamie Fowler.

The company will invest $15.75 million in its new Arlington headquarters. It will receive a $1 million grant from Virginia’s Opportunity Fund and will be eligible for tax credits for creating jobs.

Grant Thornton LLP, with offices in major cities across the country, is the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd. It has more than 7,000 employees and 550 partners at its 59 U.S. offices.
