Driver playing Pokemon Go slams into Baltimore police car (Video)

WASHINGTON — Body-worn camera footage from a Baltimore police officer captured the moment a car smashed into a parked patrol car — all because the driver had been playing Pokemon Go.

The Baltimore Police Department released the footage via Twitter on Tuesday. A Toyota RAV4 is seen slamming into the side of a parked, empty patrol car in the 2900 block of Eastern Avenue early Monday morning. None of the officers at the scene were injured.

The driver had been looking down at his phone, playing Pokemon Go when he had struck the car, police say.

The footage shows the officer wearing the body-worn camera approaching the car and asking the driver if he’s OK. The driver exits the car and says, in exasperation, “That’s what I get for playing this dumb— game.” When the officer asks whether they’re OK, the other occupants of the car respond that they’re fine.

According to the Associated Press, police have yet to file charges but are working with prosecutors.
