WASHINGTON — Baltimore police say three men have been arrested following a triple shooting inside a restaurant early Saturday.
Melvin Zavala, 20, of Baltimore; Nehemias Batista, 25, of Halethorpe, Maryland; and Argueta Andres, 24, of Baltimore are each facing three counts of first-degree attempted murder, police said Sunday.
Police said two men were shot in the head just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Santa Clara bar at Fleet and Bond streets. A third man was shot in the foot but declined hospital treatment. The shooting stemmed from a dispute inside the bar, police said.
In a separate, unrelated incident shortly after the shooting, a 27-year-old bystander in Fells Point was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run outside of the nearby DogWatch Tavern, The Baltimore Sun reports.
Police say the woman was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where she was listed in serious, but stable condition, according to The Sun. A GoFundMe account has been set up for the woman, identified by the account’s owner as Jill Boram, a bartender and the wife of a cook at DogWatch Tavern.
The events — one of which was captured on video that circulated widely on social media — left the historic neighborhood in shock over the level of violence that occurred within blocks of each other and less than an hour apart.
City police spokesman T.J. Smith said officers arrested the man suspected of being the driver in the hit-and-run.
