Surveillance video offers closer look at riot outbreak in Baltimore

WASHINGTON — Three months after Freddie Gray’s death sparked riots in Baltimore, newly released video shows violence and looting unfolding in the area of North and Pennsylvania avenues in the city.

Twenty-five-year-old Gray died on April 19 after suffering a fatal spinal injury while in police custody.

The surveillance video from April 27 was obtained by The Baltimore Sun through a Public Information Act request.

According to The Baltimore Sun, the video shows that officers did not move in as the situation developed for nearly 90 minutes, until the crowd had largely moved on — except for a brief moment of SWAT team activity.
