John Aaron is a news anchor and reporter for WTOP.
After starting his professional broadcast career as an anchor and reporter for WGET and WGTY in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he went on to spend several years in the world of sports media, working for Comcast SportsNet, MLB Network Radio, and WTOP sports.
At Comcast SportsNet, he served as the network’s morning anchor, providing radio updates to partner stations and hosting the show “Lunchbox Live.” He also created and hosted the channel’s “Fantasy Fastlane” segments, which took an in-depth look at statistical trends in the MLB and NFL on the shows SportsNite, Redskins Kickoff, and Washington Post Live. And his meanderings even included a one-game stint as the PA announcer at Nationals Park.
John also appeared in the 2009 film An American Affair with a speaking role as a White House Police Officer.
The D.C. area native is a graduate of Georgetown Preparatory School and Villanova University, where he studied communication and economics. He became a certified firefighter while attending college and proudly served in a local fire company.
In his free time, John enjoys following — and dissecting — politics, financial markets and baseball, and otherwise gets his kicks from listening to, or playing, blues and rock ‘n’ roll music, and driving, working on, or simply being around classic cars.
