WASHINGTON — An 18-year-old Marymount University student has been arrested for his role in a bomb threat that caused its Arlington campus to evacuate on Easter Sunday.
Arlington County police responded to a bomb threat made on social media and aimed at Marymount University around 9 a.m. Sunday. The threat forced Marymount University to evacuate for hours while officers investigated the threat and searched for the suspect.
Police arrested 18-year-old Samuel Nwalozie just outside of campus on Sunday afternoon and charged him with communicated threats to bomb a structure. Police said suspect descriptions based on information contained in the social media post and information provided by a witness led them to Nwalozie.
Police swept the campus and their investigation determined “there was never a physical threat to the safety of the students, staff or campus,” said police spokeswoman Kirby Clark.
Nwalozie is being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility without bond.
Marymount University is a four-year Catholic university with its main campus located in Arlington.
