WASHINGTON — Several teen boys face charges after a fight broke out in a Maryland high school and one of them was stabbed Wednesday, police said.
The fight took place in the cafeteria of Annapolis High School around 10:45 a.m., according to principal Sue Chittim in a letter to parents and guardians about the incident. When officers responded, they found a 17-year-old male student with stab wounds to the arm and back.
The student was taken to a hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
The fight stemmed from a neighborhood dispute, Chittim said.
Anne Arundel County police identified four other teens who were believed to be involved in the fight. One of them, who is believed to have stabbed the victim, had a small pocket knife, police said.
Police added that the victim and the four other teens — all from Annapolis, Maryland — were arrested and charged on juvenile citations. The 17-year-old victim, a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy have been charged with second-degree assault, affray and disruption of school activities.
The stabbing suspect, who is another 15-year-old boy, faces those same charges and additional charges of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and possession of weapon with intent to injure.
