Husband indicted in death of Ft. Meade service member

WASHINGTON — Two people are facing murder charges in the 2015 death of an Army service member based in Fort Meade.

Army Pvt. First Class Karlyn Ramirez was found dead in her Severn, Maryland town house in late August 2015.

Federal prosecutors in Maryland say her husband, 35-year-old Maliek Kearney, and 31-year-old Dolores Delgado conspired to kill Ramirez.

A grand jury in San Antonio earlier this week indicted Kearney and Delgado on a charge of interstate travel to commit domestic violence resulting in death.

The two are accused of traveling from South Carolina to Maryland with the plan of killing Ramirez. Officials say they shot Ramirez the next day.

Kearney and Delgado face a maximum sentence of life in prison if they are convicted.
