Redskins’ Norman on Cardinals’ Peterson: ‘That guy? Come on, man’

RICHMOND, Va. — For the most part, Redskins training camp has been pretty low key. The off-field twitter battles going on between other players and Josh Norman (and now DeSean Jackson) have provided the entertainment people are looking for.

First, there was Odell Beckham Jr. taking shots at Norman.

This time, Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson chimed in on Norman’s Madden ‘17 ranking.

A video surfaced last week of Pierre Garcon beating Norman in practice and Peterson took to Twitter.

Norman followed up with a response.

Norman also spoke about Peterson on Thursday after the morning walkthrough.

“That guy? Come on, man,” Norman said. “He’s number four. Be number four and be happy. Don’t talk about me. I’m not talking about you. I’m still continuing to work, trying to be better than number one. Where that is, I don’t know, but I’m working towards that. Obviously, he’s somewhere trolling other people. He should be worried about what he’s doing on the field.”

The battles between Norman and the receivers during practice have been a lot of fun to watch. Jackson and Garcon have won some and the cornerbacks have won some.

“I really look at it as for wide receivers,” Jackson said of the showdowns Thursday. “It’s really for a wide receiver to win.”

Peterson then took a shot at DeSean Jackson. He said out of the three games they’ve faced each other, Jackson has only beaten him one time and it was for 56 yards and a touchdown in 2014.

“Why are you speaking on me?” Jackson asked on Thursday. “I’m not bringing you up, I’m not talking about you. Keep me out of it. Try and keep guys’ names out of your mouth. Just go out there and play ball — that’s really all you have got to do. What you do on the field definitely shows everything.”

Norman and Jackson spoke about it on Thursday morning.

“It’s just so funny,” Norman said. “Why you trolling people? You should be worried about practicing, not talking about other people. Some people want that spotlight, some people don’t. Some people really want to get where we’re at and it’s sad. I came through here and am like an enigma. It’s like, where did he come from? Dude, you’re a first-round pick, why are you worried about me?”

The Cardinals and Redskins will play December 4 in the desert.

“We get to play them guys, and when the time comes, we’ll see what DeSean do to him in a regular game, because he already did it,” said Norman.
