GLENARDEN, Md. (AP) — A volunteer aide at a Prince George’s County elementary school has been charged with producing child pornography, including some videos police say he made on school property.
County police detailed the allegations against 22-year-old Deonte Carraway on Monday. Police say he admitted making explicit videos of children.
Investigators are aware of 10 victims ages 9-13 and have charged Carraway with 10 felony counts of manufacturing child pornography, child sex abuse and 2nd degree sexual offense, police say.
Most of the videos are from 2015, police said and some were taken inside the Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Glenarden.
It’s one of four locations police say Carraway frequently volunteered or had contact with children. The others are Theresa Banks Memorial Aquatic Center, Glenarden Voices of Youth choir and the Glenarden Municipal Center.
At a news conference, police said an uncle of one of Carraway’s victims alerted police to a nude photo he saw the victim had sent to Carraway using the Kik messaging app. Police say they arrested Carraway 18 hours later.
He was arrested Friday and is being held on $1 million bond. No attorney for Carraway is listed in online court records.
Police are asking parents and caretakers concerned their child may be a victim to call 301-772-4930, which will connect them to the Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit.
