WASHINGTON — A woman is dead after a nine-vehicle crash in Prince George’s County Thursday morning.

The crash happened near the intersection of Route 202 and Lottsford Road in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, at about 9 a.m.

Maryland State Police say two vehicles — driven by Angela Jefferson and Juan Sanchez — collided before striking seven other vehicles.

Jefferson — a 53-year-old from Springdale, Maryland — died in the crash. She was struck by 34-year-old Sanchez of Laurel, who was transported by troopers to Prince George’s Hospital Center. Sanchez has since been released.

The pileup caused drivers and passengers of the other vehicles to be transported to area hospitals.

Police found that Sanchez was driving without a driver’s license and had an outstanding arrest. Charges against Sanchez are pending.

Police say it is not yet clear why Jefferson and Sanchez collided and they are investigating the crash. Anyone who saw the crash can call police at 301-568-8101.
