Retired Prince George’s County Deputy Fire Chief Carla D. Blue died after a crash at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday on Indian Head Highway. Prince George’s County police say a vehicle traveling south on Indian Head Highway collided with another vehicle that was attempting to turn left.

Blue was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver suffered nonlife threatening injuries, police say.

Blue’s viewing and funeral is set for Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church, located at 9832 Piscataway Road in Clinton, Maryland. The viewing is at 10 a.m. and the funeral service is set for 11 a.m.

The burial at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service.

Mark Brady, a spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire and EMS, said Blue retired in October 2009 after 20 years of service. Her son, Jamar, is a firefighter assigned to the Calverton/Fire EMS Station.
