Fire destroys Md. home while owner attends spouse’s funeral

WASHINGTON – A fire in Springdale, Maryland on Saturday destroyed a woman’s home while she attended her husband’s funeral, according to Prince George’s County fire officials.

The Prince George’s County Fire Department says firefighters arrived to the blaze at a 2-story home in 3800 block of Endicott Place around 1:30 p.m.

Two people were injured while trying to put out the blaze. One firefighter was treated for non-life threatening injuries and the other was treated for electric shock, Prince George’s Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said.

Both are expected to be ok.

It took firefighters about an hour to put out the flames, which caused $200,000 in damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
