WASHINGTON — Montgomery County firefighters battled a large fire Saturday in Gaithersburg — a day after a fire broke out at a Rockville recycling plant that took all night to extinguish.

It happened at Seneca Creek State Park. Maryland Park Police reported the fire around 6:40 p.m. There was heavy fire in a large maintenance shed, a Montgomery County Fire and EMS spokesman said. When firefighters arrived, they noticed a farm tractor and a boat on fire inside the shed.

Due to the nature of the low-water supply in the rural area, several large capacity water tankers carrying upward of 1,500 gallons of water were brought in to help put out the fire.

Firefighters also cooled down and protected a nearby fuel tank hose that was releasing gas out of the valve so the fire would not spread.

No injuries were reported, but the shed and all contents in it were destroyed. The state’s fire marshal will lead the investigation but preliminary assessment found that the cause appears to be accidental. The estimated damage is $150,000.

Below is where the fire happened.
