Man’s body found in creek in Silver Spring park

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County police detectives are investigating a suspicious death after a man’s body was found in a creek in a Silver Spring, Maryland, park.

Authorities say they received a call reporting the discovery shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from a resident who said he was hiking in the woods in Long Branch Stream Valley Park near 8800 Garland Avenue and found the body.

Montgomery County investigators, along with officers from the Maryland National Capitol Park Police Department, responded to the grisly scene.

The man’s body was recovered and moved to the Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be performed.

Police ask that anyone with information regarding the identity of the victim contact the Montgomery County Police, Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Callers may remain anonymous.
