Police: 2 men arrested in connection to Md. home invasion, killing

WASHINGTON — Two Maryland men have been arrested Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a home invasion and fatal shooting in Gaithersburg, police said

The two suspects entered the home of 23-year-old Ronald Michael Lone III in the 7900 block of Muncaster Mill Road through an unlocked back door on the night of Oct. 24. Then, one of them shot and killed Lone III, Montgomery County police said.

Mohammed Sirleaf, 20, of Gaithersburg has been charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

Timario Makaveli Gregg, 19, of Silver Spring has been charged with possession of firearm by a minor. According to police, he was found in a stolen vehicle in Germantown when he was arrested.

Detectives learned that the victim’s home had a marijuana growing operation, leading them to believe the suspects’ motive may have been to steal marijuana, police said.

Police also said they were able to identify Sirleaf due, in part, to a witness who had recognized him as a former Magruder High School student and identified him in a photo lineup. The witness also told police that Sirleaf had been to the home before to smoke marijuana.

Sirleaf and Gregg are currently being held without bond.
