WASHINGTON – The search for two Clarksburg children who disappeared last September will resume this weekend.
Montgomery County police along with police from other agencies and volunteer search teams will conduct an organized search Sunday. Police say they have no news leads regarding the children’s whereabouts, but the search is part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Sarah and Jacob Hoggle.
Sarah, 3, and Jacob, 2, were last seen Sept. 7.
Police ask residents who live in the Darnestown, Boyds and Clarksburg areas to again search their property for any sign of the children. Residents may also see police participating in the search and they will be using police dogs, all terrain vehicles and horses to assist in the search.
Community volunteers are not needed for Sunday’s search, police say.
The children’s mother, Catherine Hoggle, was arrested several days after her children went missing and faces charges of obstruction, two counts of child neglect and two counts of parental abduction. She began an intensive mental health program in January after a state psychiatric report found her mentally unfit to stand trial. She had told investigators that her children were safe but wouldn’t say where she left them.
Jacob was last seen about 4 p.m. in the Darnestown area and his sister Sarah was last seen about 9 p.m. that same day in the Clarksburg area, police say. Their disappearance was quickly overshadowed by the disappearance of a University of Virginia student from Fairfax County, Hannah Graham.
