WASHINGTON — The Donohoe Companies, one of the region’s oldest commercial real estate firms, is moving its headquarters from Northwest D.C. to Bethesda.
The 132-year-old company has signed a 45,000-square-foot lease at Brandywine Realty’s newly renovated 7101 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Donohoe will move its 240 employees, as well as its construction, real estate, hospitality and development divisions to the Bethesda location later this year.
Donohoe Companies is receiving state and county incentives as part of the move including a $500,000 conditional loan through the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund and a $100,000 grant convertible to a loan from Montgomery County. The company is also eligible for several state and local tax credits.
Donohoe was founded in the District in 1884. It encompasses five different companies now and has more than 1,400 employees.
It will maintain a presence in D.C. Its Complete Building Services division will relocate to 5151 Wisconsin Avenue in the District.
Donohoe’s current projects include two hotels at The Wharf project in Southwest D.C.
