Suspect sought in Leesburg hit-and-run crash involving pedestrian

WASHINGTON — Leesburg police officers are investigating a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, a pickup truck was traveling south along Plaza Street Northeast when the motorist hit a man crossing the street.

The truck driver didn’t stop at the scene of the crash. The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to a Fairfax Hospital. Police said on Tuesday the victim is currently in critical condition.

Police in Leesburg are looking for the driver of the pickup truck, who police identified on Tuesday as 47-year-old Jose Pablo Hernandes Reyes. Reyes is now wanted for felony hit and run.

The pickup truck was last seen in the area of Ivandale Road and Bettis Drive. The vehicle’s left rear lower tail light is out, and it is equipped with a trailer hitch and bed cover. It was described to be silver or light gold, with a Virginia temporary registration of G85514.
