WASHINGTON – A brutal beating inside a Green Line Metro train Sunday is under investigation, and a video of the incident has gone viral online.
As of Tuesday morning, the 7-minute clip had been viewed nearly four million times.
It is graphic video, showing a large man violently punching a much smaller man square in the face repeatedly.
At one point the man who was beaten falls to ground, stands back up and is pummeled once again until blood runs down his chin and drips onto the floor.
Passengers can be heard screaming, and many of them run to one side of the rail car in an effort to keep a safe distance in the moving train. Once the train comes to a stop and the doors open, passengers rush out quickly and the two men continue arguing.
Metro Transit Police spoke to both men at the Southern Avenue station.
According to police, the man who was beaten declined to press charges.
However, there were two teenagers on the train who claim they were assaulted by the same man who was throwing punches. The teens were not injured, but their parents want to press charges, according to police.
