D.C. man charged with making terrorist threats federally indicted

WASHINGTON — The man arrested for making terrorist threats against area transportation services has been indicted by a federal grand jury.

Metro Transit Police arrested Jerez Nehemiah Stone-Coleman, 20, of D.C. on May 27 on charges of making terrorist threats against Metro stations, buses and trains in the area over a six-month period.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office for D.C., Stone-Coleman, also known as “Kidd Cole,”  faces, “10 counts of threatening and/or conveying false information concerning an attempt or alleged attempt to engage in terrorist attacks or other violence against mass transportation systems and one count of transmitting in interstate commerce a communication containing a threat to kidnap or injure.”

Investigators at the time of Stone-Coleman’s arrest said he made false threats aimed at Metro stations, trains and buses 11 times which resulted in emergency responses and service disruption.

In January of 2015, police say Stone-Coleman called to say he planned to take hostages on a Metrobus and kill them unless paid $15 million in ransom.

Stone-Coleman is also known for his appearance in the MTV reality show “Catfish” in May of 2014. The show documents the journey of couples who have developed relationships online, but have never met. Many times the participants pretend to be someone they are not through false online information.

A detention hearing, which is likely to become an arraignment, will be held on June 2.
