Toddler found at bottom of waterpark pool fights for life

WASHINGTON — A toddler is fighting for his life after he was found at the bottom of a pool in Fairfax County Sunday afternoon.

The 2-year-old boy was discovered about 5 p.m. as the pool at Pirate’s Cove Waterpark at Pohick Bay in Lorton, Virginia, was being cleared because of lightning in the area. He was unresponsive, Fairfax County police say.

Police officers arrived and began CPR, which was continued when the fire and rescue team arrived. The boy was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was in life-threatening condition Monday.

Police are now investigating what happened to the boy.
