‘Mad Men’ character Ken Cosgrove pens piece in The Atlantic

WASHINGTON – Ken Cosgrove is a survivor, an ad man and an aspiring author.

While other Sterling Cooper characters have fallen by the wayside, Cosgrove (Aaron Staton) has managed to stick around until the final season of “Mad Men” — eye patch and all.

Today, the character — yes the character — published an article in The Atlantic.

It’s titled “Tapping a Maple on a Cold Vermont Morning.”

In case you were skeptical that this may be a coincidence, scroll to the bottom and you’ll find the character’s photo and bio in the “About the Author” section:

A graduate of Columbia University, Kenneth Cosgrove has lived in the New York area for most of his life. Working for the advertising firm of Sterling Cooper puts Mr. Cosgrove in a unique position to observe and study the trends that shape America today. This is his first story to appear in The Atlantic.

I suppose this should be no surprise. “Mad Men” has always blurred the line between fact and fiction, history and narrative, reality and art.

Here’s hoping that after the show wraps, Ken Consgrove continues to publish.
